The Team

our story

Team Brain Injury Support have been supporting children and adults with an acquired brain injury, and delivering care for those with a neurological condition, since 2005.

We are proud to say we have supported individuals for as long as we have been providing specialist brain injury support in the community. We also have staff that have been with us since Team Brain Injury Support was established. For us, this shows we are succeeding when it comes to delivering a quality service to those we support and taking care of our staff members.

MEET THE TEAM

Sarah McHugh

Operations Director

Sarah has worked within the Health & Social Care sector for over 18 years, the vast majority of which has been spent providing clinical and support services to help individuals with complex care needs live independently in their own homes.

“I love the huge satisfaction (and overcoming the challenges!) that delivering great care provides. Our clients are the most important consideration, and meeting their differing needs and requirements means that there is never a dull, nor repetitive day in health care.  I consider it a privilege to support people and to facilitate their choices, however small, enabling them to live the life that they want to live.”

Sarah considers herself very fortunate to have always worked with a great team of people, whose primary objective is to ensure individuals remain safe and supported. Watching people progress in their rehabilitation through the right support and enabling an individual to participate in an activity which they never thought possible are two of the main reasons why Sarah continues to work within the sector.

Kristie Drewery

Operations Manager at Team

Kristie has worked in the care sector for 20 years, the last 5 of which have been with Team Brain Injury Support. Beginning her journey with us as a support worker, Kristie’s dedication and determination was clear from the start and, as such, she has taken on a number of different roles within the business – from Care Coordinator, to Complex Care Manager, to her current role as Operations Manager. Her experience and skills make her an invaluable asset to our team.

“My colleagues at Team have been so supportive throughout my career so far and I am proud to have been given the opportunity to expand on my skills and experience within the business. Over the past couple of years, Team have continued to grow to the point where we are now taking the business nationwide. I am very excited about the prospects of the company and so glad to be onboard to see it flourish.”

Hester Hucklebridge

Psychologist at Team

Hester has worked with Team Brain Injury Support since 2013, initially as a support worker and progressing through to a Psychologist. Hester has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Principles of Applied Neuropsychology. She has supported individuals from a range of backgrounds, living with varying degrees of cognitive and physical ability. Hester has experience of working cases in litigation and settled status, effectively working with outside professionals as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Rebecca Hurst

Clinical Nurse Manager

Rebecca began her career as a neonatal intensive care nurse, before spending a number of years supporting complex care packages in crisis in the community. During this time, Rebecca supported a little boy with complex needs and after seeing several care providers come and go as they could not support the package, Rebecca decided she wanted to try and make a bigger impact when supporting families and providing them with the care they require. Since then, Rebecca has worked her way through different roles, from complex care management to becoming a complex nurse specialist, and this has led Rebecca to her most recent role as Clinical Nurse Manager.

“When it comes to the care we provide, I am dedicated to meeting the individual needs of all those who we support and strive to deliver the quality of care I know I would be happy for my own family to receive, should they ever need it.”

Zak Hussain

National Service Development Manager at Team

Zak has been working in Business Development for over twenty years, the last six of which have been within Health and Social Care. Having been a young carer, looking after his father who suffered a stroke, Zak fully understands how having the right support can make a huge difference to the people in our care, as well as their loved ones.

“My personal experiences are what drive me to help provide the very best care for each member of our Team family and I feel very proud to know that we are improving the lives of every person we support.”

“I view us as a family centred organisation, and we aim to support our individuals with as much care and empathy as we do for our own family and friends. There are lots of staff members who have remained with me throughout my journey at Team and they are honestly the most incredibly hard-working people you will ever meet! Although we don’t claim to be perfect, Team strives to deliver high standards of care and support for all.”

Liz Rusdale
Liz Rusdale
Quality and Compliance Manager at Team
Liz joined Team in 2006 and, since then, has worn many different hats within the company. This includes working within a compliance and recruitment capacity, becoming an Area Manager and then progressing into her current role as Quality and Compliance Manager.

Liz was very much involved with Team Brain Injury Support at its inception, starting in a small office in Bournemouth, and feels privileged to have watched the company grow and flourish to it’s current national status.

“I have personal experience of the devasting impact a brain injury can have, not only on the person affected, but also on their family and friends. In a split second your whole world is turned upside down and things will never ever be the same again! I truly believe that with the right care and support, this can make an immeasurable difference to the person’s quality of life and their wellbeing.”

Liz admits that being able to make that difference to a person’s life is her reason for driving Team Brain Injury Support to be one of the best specialist care providers in the sector, providing the highest quality of support for those individuals and their families.
